Happy Friday! Due to be on an extended spring break, it’s been awhile since I’ve linked up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for their Friday Favorite link-up, so I’m glad to be back!

Essential Oils and Diffuser

A LOVE running my diffuser throughout the day with Serenity essential oil, it smells so good!  I haven’t made a complete switch from burning candles, instead of using my diffuser but when I do light a candle I try to make sure it’s a candle made of soy or beeswax. Why you ask?  Did you know that many traditional candles are made with paraffin? This fact alone is not the issue. When you light the candle, it releases carcinogenic chemicals and some candle wicks are made of lead which gets released into your home through the soot. #nothanks  All that to say, I really enjoy using the oils as a safe alternative. The ones I have are DoTerra and I only have 3. I use the Serenity all of the time and swap that out for a blend of the Cassia and Wild Orange during the winter. I’d love to expand upon the oils I use in my diffuser, not so much for homeopathic methods at this point.  If you have any recommendations for other oils or blends that are your favorites, I would love to hear them! Comment below!

Brandless

I shopped Brandless for the first time a little over a month ago and placed my second order earlier this week. Both times, I’ve really liked what I’ve gotten, the price is on point and delivery is super fast. I hadn’t realized it before but their foods have no artificial colors/flavors and are non-GMO.  I love how they give back to the community as well, every time you place an order they provide a meal to someone via their connection with Feeding America. I’ll definitely be trying to shop more with them in the future. Since I’m fairly new to the brand, if any of you have tried and have some favorite things you like to purchase from them, let me know!  If you’ve never ordered and are thinking of giving it a try, use this link and we both get $6 off of our order. #winwin

Tinkle Razors

Girl, shave your face! Haha!  Do you follow Living with Landyn? If you don’t you should and then you should go and watch her insta story on how to shave your face. #ilearnedfromthebest  Don’t worry, you won’t grow a beard and the hair on your face won’t grow back darker but your face WILL feel so much more smooth, your makeup will go on much more easily and your skincare products will be so much more easily absorbed. I’m telling you don’t knock it until you try it and you can thank me later! #yourewelcome

Stella and Dot

I’ve been a huge fan of Stella and Dot for over 10 years. I have been friends who are stylists for the company and most of the time they’re who I go to when I need a statement piece for a special occasion, an update to my everyday pieces or a new clutch spice things up a bit. My current favs are these earrings and this clutch, I brought them on our recent trip to Cabo (read about it here). *links posted so you can check them out but I’m not a stylist nor am I receiving any product * I just like their jewels * 🙂 If you don’t have a stylist, you can shop or connect with my friend Ann here.

My Beautycounter Stock-up

I love Beautycounter’s cleansing balm, it’s primary use is cleansing (even as an overnight cleanser) but this stuff can be use for so much more. Some of the things we use it for in our home are eczema, treating sun burns and chapped lips. This stuff is seriously amazing. The price tag is a little high but it lasts forever.

Thanks to those rays I was catching in Cabo, I needed to stock up on my foundation. Normally, I use the linen shade of the Tint Skin but I was able to kick it up a notch this time and went with the sand shade.

This next thing is probably Jared’s favorite of the week! I got him one of the items from Beautycounter’s new men’s line, Counterman. He’s totally loving the exfoliating cleanser.

Although I’ve been a consultant for Beautycounter for several years, I like to mix and match my fav products across brands…. these are just some of my favs!

A couple of weeks ago we spent a long weekend in San Francisco for my sister’s wedding, you can read that post HERE. The morning after the wedding our family was up bright and early to head for the airport in order to reach our final destination on our vacation, Cabo San Lucas! Despite being tired from dancing the night away at the wedding, the kids were SO EXCITED to get Mexico.

img_1754
Cabo bound! The smile on her face says it all!

Each of the kids had their own Kindle Fires which they had downloaded books, games and movies on prior to our departure so they had plenty of entertainment. We stayed at Villa del Palmar in Cabo San Lucas in a two bedroom penthouse with an oceanfront view. It fit our family of five and my parents perfectly. The kids really loved the jacuzzi on the balcony, this along with having their own room with a TV was probably their highlight of our accommodations.

img_1815
Living their BEST LIVES at the end of the day watching a movie!

By the time we got to the resort, we only had a few hours left in the day but that didn’t stop the kids from taking a dip in the pool. We just grabbed pizza for them from the onsite Sports Bar for dinner.  It was good but the woodfired pizza at their restaurant, Tomatillos , is even better!

Day 2:

We woke up and the kids swam for a bit before we had lunch poolside. My parents were kind enough to watch Camryn during her naptime so Jared, the kids and myself walked along the beach towards downtown Cabo. Since it’s spring break time, things started to get a little more, shall we say “crazy”, as we started to get closer to the restaurants along the beach so we hitched a ride on a water taxi to get to the marina. I’m so glad we did that, the kids loved it! We stopped at Captain Tony’s and had a cocktail while the kid’s enjoyed banana smoothies. Once we got back to the resort the kids swam and swam some more.

img_2160img_2158img_2156-1img_2152img_1988-1

My parents offered to watch the kids that evening so Jared and I could enjoy a night out on the town. We made reservations at La Golandrina, which we’ve eaten at several times before. The ambiance of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The seating is outdoors and above you is a canopy of tree branches all strung with white lights.  So beautiful. Unfortunately, this trip the food was just subpar. I would definitely recommend going there for a cocktail and maybe an appetizer but save your dinner reservation for another restaurant. I would recommend Edith’s or La Casita, both are great choices!

img_2099

Day 3and 4:

More swimming…lots of swimming! HA!  I was so happy I had brought swim shirts along for both of the girls to wear, the sun is so intense and it definitely helped to protect their skin. There are a ton of cute suits at Target this season, I got this one for Cami!!

My favorite suit was this one from amazon. I have NEVER bought any article of clothing from amazon so I was definitely going out on a limb getting  a suit. I generally have to buy more expensive suits because I got a lot going up top, if you know what I’m saying, so I need suits with a little bit of support. This one shoulder ruffled suit was so cute. I love that you can wear it under a cute pair of shorts and throw on a kimono  and you’re ready to go get a quick bite or walk along the beach. I’m wearing my Rachel Zoe palm print kimono, though you can’t really tell it’s length in the photo, that I got from my Box of Style last spring. I looked everywhere but I couldn’t find a link for it. I really like this kimono from Nordstrom! It’s really reasonable too, oops, might have to get that one too.

Day 5:

The kids swam from sun up until sundown every day. We thought about taking them to go swim with the dolphins but they were more interested in swimming so we let them be. So much of the time I think we as parents work so hard to give them all of these “experiences” but they are often just content being right where they are. It really makes me feel overjoyed to think about how much fun they had just being together and loving life during our trip. Family vacays are a cup filler for me, for sure!

img_1969img_1973img_1980img_1908img_1799img_1844

On this day, Jared had actually surprised me by booking me a massage at the Desert Spa. I had never been to that spa before and it was so beautiful and peaceful, if it weren’t for wanting to get back to spend time with my family I would’ve stayed there all day! I had the deep tissue massage that day and went back the next day for a pedicure.

Day 6:

On the last night of our trip we met up with some friends of ours from back in Minnesota that were also vacationing in Cabo. One of my friends had set up a private boat tour to go whale watching. We had such a great time and ended up seeing 2 whales about a half an hour into our trip. It was a mama whale and her calf that we saw and they stuck around our boat for over an hour. It was so neat to watch them swim so close to the surface of the water. I got WAY TOO many pictures of our whale sighting. Ha! I mean how many pictures does one need of air bubbles coming up from the water?!   At least no one can say I didn’t take any pictures.

After the whale watching tour, our crew ate dinner at The Office on Medano beach. I’ve been there for lunch and dinner before, the food is always great and the atmosphere is perfect!

Day 7:

On our last day in Cabo, our departing flight was 2 hours late. I was actually more than happy to stay an extra two hours, which meant we had nearly the entire day to soak up some more rays and avoid re-entry back to reality just a bit longer.

img_1983img_1946img_1968img_1921img_1909

This trip exceeded any expectations I had of traveling to another country with all 3 kids. We had an amazing time and I would totally recommend this vacation to anyone, the kids are already asking “when can we go back?”. The answer…not soon enough! Good news is now that we’re back home, the temps are rising and the snow is melting. Praise the lord!

Thanks so much for reading, have a great day!

XOXO,

Melissa @ Finding My Mojo

Hello Monday!

2019hellomonday

Today I’m linking up with Lindsay, Heather, Johannah, and Tanya for the first time!  I actually ran across Lindsay’s blog, Lindsay’s Sweet World, a couple of years ago when I was on Pinterest looking for 1st birthday party ideas for Camryn. I ended up going with a gold and light pink pumpkin theme and it was SO. CUTE! (Am I allowed to say that about a party that I put together? HA!)  You can check it out here!

Anyway, this past weekend we spent most of our time relaxing at home and getting back into our normal routine after being gone for an extended period of time over spring break. I recapped our trip to San Francisco  last week and plan on recapping our trip to Cabo San Lucas later this week!

It was so nice being home, without any evening activities, for a few days. Last Thursday, I took all 3 kiddos to the American Girl store at the Mall of America. Our store here in Minnesota is closing this week, so I wanted to take Laney to get her first full size doll.  After browsing the store for awhile she settled on Nanea. We’ve been reading a little bit of the book the doll came with each night and she’s loving her new doll!

After taking one for the team on Thursday, I told Parker he could bring a buddy to  see the How to Train Your Dragon 3 movie on Friday afternoon and it was sooooo good! I would totally recommend it!

On Sunday morning I made Lucky Charm Marshmallow bars to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. We’re not Irish so I don’t go too crazy with the celebrating, this little treat was the perfect way to start our day. Just ask my little Leprechauns. Ha!  The super difficult recipe is listed below.

Lucky Charm Marshmallow Bars

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 5-6 cups Lucky Charms cereal
  • 5 cups mini-marshmallows

Directions

Melt butter in large saucepan. Once butter is melted, stir in marshmallows and continue to stir until marshmallows have completely melted. Take pan off of burner. Stir in Lucky Charms cereal and then spread in a greased 9×9 pan. Voila!

That concludes my very relaxing weekend recap! I’ll be back later this week with the details on our Cabo trip and Friday Favorites! Have a great week everyone!

XOXO,

Mojo Travels- San Francisco!

A couple of weeks ago, my family and I were  San Francisco bound for my sister’s wedding. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and we had such a great time exploring the city with the kids.

img_1465
Sorry Cami, when you’re trying to get all 5 smiling at the same time sometimes you take what you can get.

We arrived in San Francisco mid-morning and just like most places in the country, they were experiencing abnormally cold temps and increased precipitation. That didn’t hold us down though;  the kids were so excited to let loose some of their bound up energy. We thought we’d be fine in our rain jackets but about two minutes in, we had spent $20 on two giant umbrellas. #wellworthit

This jacket I brought along is my new favorite rain jacket. I love the color, fit and feel of this jacket!  I’m currently pretty obsessed with all things Athleta 🙂

Our first stop was Pier 45 and we were lucky enough to stumble upon a pop-up Old Fashioned Arcade museum. The kids had fun playing some games, my favorite was probably watching them play Wack-a-Mole. So funny!

img_0762img_0765img_0767

Our next stop was Fisherman’s Wharf. The kids really enjoyed Aquariumof the Bay, there were so many exhibits and sea animals to see.

img_0778img_0780img_0782img_0788img_0784img_0791img_0792

There are many shops and restaurants all along the wharf. The  docks lining the wharf are also home to hundreds of sea lions. You can see Alcatraz from the end of the pier too; despite being to San Fransisco many times I’ve actually never visited Alcatraz. Have any of you been and would you recommend a visit?

Probably one of the most memorable events at Fisherman’s Wharf  was Parker winning a giant stuffed animal out of one of those claw machines. I should preface this by saying that Jared’s dad has a serious affinity towards claw machines and whenever we visit Grandpa, he’s got a new supply of stuffed animals that he has won. When Parker initially asked to spend $3 on the machine I said no but after re-thinking it I thought it was a fine way to pass some time and who knows maybe he has a stroke of his Grandpa’s luck. Low and behold he won this beaut of a stuffed doll on the second try (same $3 dollars lest you think he swindled me out of $6 to achieve this big win)! He was so excited and Camryn was even more excited to win her special “dowy”, which she insisted upon sleeping with in the already tight quarters of her pack-n-play. HaHa!

img_1464

The last big adventure at the wharf was hopping on this two-story carousel. By the time we went on it, it was getting darker out and the lights on the carousel were so pretty.  Day 1 and already an unforgettable trip.

At the end of the day we headed back to the beautiful and ginormous mansion my sister and her fiance had rented to host all of the family who were to attend the wedding in a couple of days. Because our family is the largest, read nosiest, we were sequestered to the attic. The kids loved that big space all to themselves.  We enjoyed a dinner of Boudin’s Calm Chowder and sourdough bread, Boudin’s is a staple of San Fran. If you haven’t tried it, you should definitely make a visit if you’re ever in town.

The next day, we spent the morning at The Exploratorium. The Exploratorium is an interactive, hands on museum of science, art and physical movement. All 5 us found it interesting, there’s truly something for everyone. It’s fairly expensive to get in but they allow you to come and go throughout the day. The museum is on the Embarcadero and  close enough to other places of interest, like the Ferry Building ,to allow people to come and go easily .

img_1508img_1519img_1517img_1521img_1523

We had plans to eat at the Ferry Building but I wouldn’t take the kid’s there again to grab lunch. To be fair, we didn’t go to any of the sit down restaurants but looked at menus for the smaller grab-and go shops, the menus were a bit too “fancy” for our kid’s tastes. They may not have like the lunch fare but they certainly didn’t mind the ice cream at Gott’s Ice Cream!  So delish! After heading back to The Exploratorium for a bit longer we went back to the mansion for the rehearsal dinner.

The Grand Finale and last day of our trip was centered around the wedding of my sister and her now husband. Their day was absolute perfection and I was so honored to be a part of it. Delaney and I headed to my sister’s apartment bright and early that morning for hair and makeup. My sister is such a light in the world and it’s no wonder, her makeup artist is also a friend of hers. He was just the kindest, most talented human being, I had so much fun meeting him. I may just take a trip back to SF for him to do my makeup again!

img_1532img_1538img_1576

The wedding took place at city hall and my sister, I’m sure, was the most beautiful bride to ever walk those halls.

img_1581

Following the wedding ceremony, we went on a trolley ride through the city.

I’m not sure of the name of the reception hall, but it was such a wonderful evening. As most weddings do, this one went by way too fast. The weekend was magic and we enjoyed spending time with all of our extended family. I can’t wait to get back!!

Stay tuned next week, I’ll be taking about part deux of our trip. Cabo bound!!

Friday Favorites!

I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad I made it to Friday in my life!  Ha! If you read yesterday’s post, you know that I’ve been seriously suffering from jet lag this week. #oldpeopleproblems  On top of needing to unpack from my wonderful weekend away and getting things organized for the week, we got another snow day thrown at us! Which brings me to the topic of today’s blog. It’s time for Friday Favorites and once again I’m linking up with A Little Bit of Everything, Grace and Love and Momfessionals to bring you some of my favs this week!

Snow Days for Days (literally)

This week we had what I think was our 5th snow day in the last 3 weeks. #butwhoscounting  While I really wish I was using my PTO on a warm weather vacation I will definitely take the chance to soak up this extra time with my most favorite thing in the whole world…these 3 angels of mine!

img_1198

TAZO Glazed Lemon Loaf Tea

A friend of mine introduced me to this delicious tea, TAZO glazed lemon loaf.  Seriously so good and totally tastes just like a piece of lemon bread! I like to enjoy either tea or decaf coffee at the end of the night while I wind down for the day. Does anyone else have any favorites?!  I used to like this peppermint chocolate tea from Teavana but they closed their stores. Where’s a girl supposed to find really good tea now?!

img_1199

Skinny Dipped Almonds

I also mentioned in yesterday’s post that my sweet hubby had a nice little welcome home gift waiting for me when I got home Sunday night. One of the things he had gotten were these Skinny Dipped Almonds. Anyone else ever tried these or any of the other flavors? I’ve seen them before but hadn’t tried any up until now and I think they’re really tasty.  I like that the chocolate layer is more of a thin powder coating rather than thick solid chocolate.  It looks like you can even get them on Thrive Market in these other flavors too!

Daily Deposit Journal

Another favorite of mine is this Daily Deposit Journal that I was gifted by a very good friend for Christmas. It was funny, I had actually just heard of the journal a couple of days prior and was thinking “I would really like something like that”. I think my friend read my mine because low and behold, two days later there it was all wrapped up in a pretty package. I totally LOVE it and have gifted it to a couple of other friends already too!

Hyaluronic Lip Booster

My next Favorite Thing is this Hyaluronic Lip Booster from PCA Skin Care. One of my best friends works as an educator and distributor for PCA and prior to that had a ton of experience in the medical spa/skincare world so when she says something’s amazing I know I have to give it a try. This stuff does not disappoint, the night before I received it my lips were so chapped from our dry Minnesota air and this serum worked wonders overnight. If you have an amazing lip balm or chapstick that works really well on dry, chapped lips I’d love to hear about that too!

That’s a wrap for this week’s favorites! Thank you for stopping by, have a wonderful weekend!

Mojo Travel~ Palm Springs!

I had visions of putting this post together on Monday, the day after we got back from a much needed girl’s weekend, however, jet-lag is real my friends! I’m just now KIND OF getting back into the groove of things but then again, lets be honest mommin’ ain’t easy and I rarely feel like I’m on top of my game. Ha!

This past weekend, I took a 4 day trip with a couple of my best friends from high school to Palm Springs, CA. This trip was YEARS in the making and we were so glad to finally be boarding our plane last Thursday evening with visions of late mornings drinking HOT coffee, uninterrupted dinners and endless time to catch up on ALL THE THINGS.

When we were contemplating where to go for this vacation, we had certain criteria that we wanted to fulfill. We wanted warmth, relaxation, the ability to do some outdoor exercise, shops and affordable to get to within the US. Even though the weather was 10 degrees colder than average, coming from MN we were more than happy to take in that 50 degree weather the locals were referring to as their “Polar Vortex”. I’ll show them Polar Vortex, just hop on a flight to Minneapolis and then your 50 degrees won’t look so bad!! HaHa!

Day 1:

When we got into the airport on Thursday night, we were all pleasantly surprised to see how small and easy to navigate the airport was. We rented a Mustang convertible, #weresofancy, and drove less than 10 minutes to get to our hotel.  Seriously, how awesome is that!!  We stayed at the Kimpton Rowan, which was absolutely stunning. I already had a love for this boutique hotel brand going into our stay. They’re known for their excellent hospitality and their attention to detail in all areas from the common spaces to the individual rooms. I love that they always have robes for you to use and this particular hotel had delicious orange infused water in the lobby.

img_1175

After we settled into our room for a bit, we went to dinner at Las Casuelas right in downtown Palm Springs. It was less than a 5 minute walk from our hotel. Even though it was Valentine’s Day they were able to find us a seat on their outdoor patio. Apparently, those locals just can’t hang in the cooler temps. 😉 They had outdoor heaters and we managed just fine! No pics of my dinner, #sorrytoohungry #storyofmylife.  If you ever find yourself in Palm Springs, the Enchiladas Suizas are to die for!

Day 2:

We woke up Friday morning ready to tackle the day. We got dressed for the day and figured we’d head down to the lobby and grab a cup of coffee. We were surprised when the concierge informed us that it was only 6:30am, oops, and they weren’t quite serving coffee  yet. Fortunately for us, we were right next to a Starbucks! #givemeyourcoffee  We also got coffee and a pastry at Koffi before setting out for the day. I love trying new coffee places, especially ones that are local.  This little place was really nice because there was a courtyard in the back of the coffee shop when you could sit and enjoy your beverages.

img_1176

In the days leading up to our arrival, Palm Springs had experienced significant flooding and the National Parks and many surrounding trails were closed. As we meandered around the city, we found a trail and took a hike up the mountain. It was so beautiful!

By the time we finished our hike it was late afternoon and we were STARVING!!  At the recommendation of our concierge, we hit up the Kaiser Grill and it was so good! We were still so full by dinnertime that we ended up just having desert. We ended up stumbling upon an amazing toffee shop called Brandini. The toffee was out of this world and was actually founded by two really good friends who have a knack for making amazing toffee. When they were in high school and trying to fundraise money for a school trip, their sales were such a huge success they ended up opening their own shop…and we’re super glad they did. YUMM!!  You only get a pic of the case, haha, because we devoured  (and split) the toffee ice cream sundae!

img_1172

Day 3:

This time, we started our day off with Coffee Bean coffee. I got a mocha, parting with my routine medium roast with a splash of cream, and it was excellent!

img_1171

We had plans to hit up Joshua Tree National Park, so before we headed out for the day we had breakfast at one of the Rowan’s restuarants called Juniper Table . I got the Chilaqiles and I’ve never had any better than the ones I had at this restaurant.

Joshua Tree was magnificent!

After we got home we were exhausted from a long day but pulled it together to head out for a nice dinner that evening. Well, we hadn’t planned on all of the resturants being filled due to Modernism week but as luck would have it we ended up at an amazing Italian restaurant. I had a super delish lobster pasta dish that was so good…I’m only sorry that at this point I can’t remember the name of the restaurant.

Day 4:

One of the locals had told us Palm Desert was a MUST SEE while we were in Palm Springs so we figured since we were so close we’d check it out. Honestly, we didn’t love Palm Desert. It was much more commercialized and a lot like home, minus the freezing temps with the added beauty of palm trees. We ate lunch, shopped a bit and then headed back to our hotel. Each of us ladies wanted to bring our kiddos back a little something from the trip so we ended up stopping at Balboa Candy Store. Balboa was such a cute, old-time candy store and the kids very much loved the little treats I brought back for them.

Us girls had the time of our lives on the trip. As childhood friends, this trip was probably the longest period of time we had ever gotten the chance to spend together in our adult lives and I think it meant the world to each of us to have this time. We hope to make this a recurrent event and heaven knows I love to get travel plans on the books so I’m betting we can make it happen again!

I’d love to hear from anyone else that’s been to Palm Springs, what did we miss?! And where should we go on our next trip??

P.S. We were gone over Valentine’s Day, when I got home at 2am on Monday morning this was waiting for me on the counter. Gotta say, it was good to be back home!

Let’s Look!

Let's Look Link

This Wednesday I’m teaming up with A Little Bit of Everything and Mix and Match Mama for their “Let’s Look” link up! This month we’re looking at Our Favorite Reads and let me tell you, I wish I was reading more!  I really enjoy reading but never seem to find a lot of time to sit down and enjoy a good book. I should say though, I read at least 30 minutes a day but that reading is done with my kids at night before they go to bed. We’ve always read to each of the kids at night, they pick the books and often I even read to our oldest, Parker, who can read on his own now.  Anyway, I digress…

It would be really hard for me to say what my Favorite Reads are because I’ve read a ton of books over the years and sadly my memory is not that great. HA!  That being said,  here are a few that come to mind when I think of my FAVORITE reads.

A few years ago, I was introduced to the Winter Street series by Elin Hilderbrand. I love reading this series around Christmas time.  Most of Elin’s books take place in New England and I LOVE that about her books.   New England is one of my favorite places in the US to visit.  I’ve read the entire 4 book series and would totally recommend them as light, easy reads!

Winter street

Another book that I REALLY LOVED was “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. I had to have read this book more than 10 years ago and I’ve always held on to it because I remember thinking the entire time I was reading it what a fantastic book it is. The story takes place in Afghanistan during war times, it’s a tale of hardship, friendship, peril and so much more. I would recommend this book!

img_0966

I read “Summer at Tiffany: A Memoir” by Marjorie Hart this past summer and LOVED this book too! Of course, as many of my favorite books do, this one takes place on the East Coast. In this book, Marjorie recounts the summer of her Junior year in college and how she and her friend took off for New York to work at Tiffany & Co.  I just love this book because I felt like I had a chance to live vicariously through Marjorie and imagine what would it would be like to go to an unknown city without a real plan and end up spending the summer working at a world renowned jeweler in the 1940’s. Such a cool story!

img_0964

I’m currently listening to “Rising Strong” by Brene Brown on CD, which I borrowed from the library. I love to read personal development books or listen to podcasts. I’m really excited to finish this one! Here’s a quote I pulled from the book.

Rachel Hollis’s “Girl Wash Your Face” is also an absolute favorite of mind. It’s so inspirational and uplifting. Which reminds me…I need to pre-order her book “Girl Stop Apologizing”! Anyone else love her and have you pre-ordered the next book?!girl wash your face.PNG

Thank you for stopping by my blog today are reading about my Favorite Reads!! I would love to hear what some of yours are too, comment below with what your favorite books are! Happy Wednesday!

Friday Favorites!

It’s Friday and I’m linking up with A Little Bit of Everything, Momfessionals, and Grace and Love again!  I’m super excited to be taking a little time out of my Thursday afternoon to write this quick post. I really enjoy blogging and sharing how I’m Finding My Mojo, thank you again for following along. I am going to work on being more intentional AND consistent with my posts and I hope you find that to be the case over the weeks to come!

1. It’s February and that means we are still in the thick of hockey season and I have to say, watching my little guy play hockey is most definitely one of my FAVORITE things. I  love watching him play!  It makes my heart so happy to see him doing one of the things he loves most!!

2. My Peloton bike has been a FAVORITE thing of mine for awhile now. Before I had kids, I used to LOVE going to the gym to take spin classes before work and would often be there at 5:30 in the morning just to take a class with my favorite instructor. I’ve tried to get back into spinning over the years but due to inconsistent schedules with the kids and something always seeming to get in the way, I was never able to make it to classes on a consistent basis. Then, about 2 years ago, a friend of mine mentioned a new bike she just got called a Peloton. Soon afterwards, I noticed a pop-up Peloton boutique at the Mall of America. I checked the bike out in the boutique and it was love at first site, except for I didn’t love the price tag.  After months and months of contemplating the purchase, my husband surprised me with it as my Mother’s Day/Birthday gift. This bike is seriously amazing! The quality is top notch and the catalogue of on-demand classes you can take, in addition to live classes throughout the day, is top notch!!  You can pick your class by instructor, length of time, music genre, type of ride and more…this bike is definitely one of my most FAVORITE things ever!! My favorite instructor is Ally Love, she’s very motivational and really knows how to put together a good workout. If you have a Peloton, who is your favorite instructor? Come follow me at mojosbike and we can ride together!!

If you’ve been thinking about getting a Peloton but haven’t bitten the bullet yet, use my referral code, NXRWW6 ,  during your purchase and we both get $100 in accessories! #winwin

3. Okay, so I am SOOOOO late to the party on this but I am just now reading Jo Anna Gaines’ book “The Magnolia Story“.  I love this book so much. I’m haven’t finished it yet but I’m really enjoying reading about how they’ve created their life together! I borrowed the book from the library but I think I may need to get my own copy.

Before I started reading “The Magnolia Story” I had already been subscribing to the Magnolia Journal. Last week the kids had 4 SNOW DAYS and we spend a lot of time indoors due to the frigid temps. We made the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread from the Magnolia Journal and it was so good!

Do any of you have the Magnolia Cookbook?  Share your favorite recipes in the comments!!

4. Okay, who doesn’t love a good donut?  This question brings me to my 4th FAVORITE this week. The town we live in just got a new Donut shop and these donuts are so good and worth every bit of hype they’ve been getting! Does anyone else have a Duck Donuts near them?!?! If you do and you’ve never tried their donuts, RUN don’t walk to get one. *** the running will help to burn the calories you’ll consume when you eat one of these delicious, made to order donuts!

5. Last favorite to top off this list of FRIDAY FAVORITES!!  I’ve mentioned before that I’m an educator and consultant for a company called Beautycounter.  Our goal is to get safer beauty products into the hands of everyone and promote better regulation of the beauty industry. Sometimes, we have promotions and now is one of those times!

For a limited time only,  now thru February 20, if you purchase one of our Flawless in Five Sets you get a complimentary complexion brush. Yes, please!!

The Flawless in Five set is one of my FAVORITES because you get to pick your shade for all of your beauty basics and these products are awesome! In the winter, I mix a little bit of the linen and sand tint skin shades for my foundation.  I love the Peony lip gloss and Guava blush!!  In addition to the complimentary complexion brush, you also get to choose between the eye brow pencil and our new brow gel…I know which one I’m choosing!!

Friday Favorites!

img_0126

It’s Friday and I’m back with A Little Bit of Everything, Grace and Love and Momfessionals to share some of my FAVORITE things this Friday!

First, can I just say…someone pinch me! I cannot believe it’s December 14th already. I’ve been busy making my list and checking it twice this holiday season and we’ve definitely been enjoying ourselves with holiday celebrations!  What are some of your favorite holiday traditions or things you look forward to most each year?

First up….

This Tree Dazzler! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I hadn’t until a few weeks ago when I was on a girls weekend and a couple of my girlfriends mentioned their Tree Dazzler. Basically, it’s a halo (fitting for the season) with 8 different strands of lights hanging from it. You place the halo on the top of your tree and drape the strings of lights down the branches.

My husband and I really enjoy the beauty of all white Christmas lights on the tree but the kids enjoy multi-colored lights. The Tree Dazzler allows you to choose from 16 different light settings, which is so fun for the kids and changes things up depending on how you want the tree to look! I found mine at our local Ace Hardware but you can get them on Amazon too!

Here’s our tree, along with the Dazzler, in all her glory!

Second up..

I’ve always loved The Grinch movie and awhile ago I had found a bunch of Grinch themed goodies and beverages on Pinterest to go with our movie night. These Grinch cookies were a hit and have become an annual delicacy at our house! They are SUPER easy to make and delicious. This year, the kids and I even packaged them up and delivered them to the school bus drivers.

Here’s the Recipe!

My Third Favorite this week…

Camryn had her first holiday show for dance class. These tots were just so adorable dancing to their favorite holiday songs. It was definitely fun to see Camryn bop around to the music and get into the performance.

Fourth Fav…

I am OBSESSED with these Kate Spade stud earrings that are currently on sale at Nordstrom, they have such a variety of stones to choose from and in my opinion they’re the perfect little accessory. We’re gifting a couple of the kid’s teachers with these little gems this year!

And lastly, these two little loves have spent a lot of time reading together this week. We have a large collection of Christmas books that the kids have been enjoying this season and I’m glad to see them spending time together reading them!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

How We… Make Lunches

I’m linking up with Erika and Shay today and sharing How We Do Lunches!  This is a great linkup because I’m sure we could all use some new lunch ideas!

How-We Wednesdays

It’s that time of year again and back to school means it’s time to starting making sure we have all the supplies to start the year off right. Up until this year, we only had one school aged kiddo and we used a Yumbox to package his lunch in. I LOVE these compartmentalized lunchboxes because they keep everything together, mostly leak proof and are just the right portion sizes. They also fit perfectly into Pottery Barn’s Cold Pack Lunchbox, however, that’s the ONLY thing that will fit in there! This post is reminding me that I need to order one up for Laney too! I’m thinking I may get another 2-3 Yumboxes, so we can have them in rotation.

So, what do I put in their lunch you ask?!  I always to try to pack a main “entrée”, vegetable, fruit and then a carb or treat of some sort. Here’s a list of some of the things we’ve tried.

  • Sandwiches (in wraps, bread, pita pockets)
  • Cheese, Crackers and Sausage
  • Fruit or fruit pouches (like go squeeze)
  • Carrots/broccoli/cauliflower   One of my kiddos NEVER eats the veggie I put in their lunch box, any suggestions to sneak something healthy in there that they’ll eat?!
  • Trail mix
  • Yogurt
  • Chips

Sometimes we’ll have leftovers that the kid’s really enjoy and I’ll want to send something warm in their lunchboxes. In these instances, we use Kid’s Thermos.   I generally fill the Thermos with hot/boiling water and let it sit for awhile to “prime” the Thermos before I put the food in. I prepare the lunch to be heated the night before so I’m not monkeying around with that in the morning and it’s ready to go when I am. I heat the food to be served extra hot, in hopes that it’s warm buy lunch time. Then, I empty the hot water out of the Thermos and add the food. Wala!

Some of the foods we’ve put in a Thermos are:

  • pasta
  • casseroles
  • chicken nuggets wrapped in dry paper towel to keep out moisture
  • soup

Anyone else ever try this? Would love some more suggestions!

Lastly, I pack my lunches in these glass containers I found on Amazon.

I like them because I can store foods that need to be heated in them and they also have a compartment in the lid for utensils!

When it comes to getting ready for school, packing lunches is one of my LEAST favorite things to do.  Now, if I packed the same thing for each kid each day it would be a breeze but I try to give their lunches some variety. Sometimes, at the end of the day the last thing I want to think about it what to put in the lunch box. So, I’m looking forward to checking out what others have to say on this matter! Also, if you’ve ever heard me talk about Take Back the Kitchen (a weekly meal planning service developed by a registered dietician) then you may be interested in Take Back the Lunchbox!  It’s a new service that is going to be launching soon where clients will get a weekly list of lunchbox ideas, I’m super excited about the launch!
