Summer Bucket List~ Part 1

I can’t believe we’re already in the second week of August. *sigh It’s going by so quickly and we haven’t even covered half of our bucket list yet! Not gonna lie…at this point, the kids are driving me bananas more often than not but I’m just hanging onto the realization that the snow will be flying before we know it. We’re just going to do our best to enjoy the last of these summer days and check off the rest of our bucket list!

Today, I’m going to highlight some of the things we’ve enjoyed most this summer!

At the end of the school year, both of the older kids came home with summer reading challenges as well as some reading challenges from local bookstores. One of our favorite bookstores is Wild Rumpus in Minneapolis. The store is tucked away on a quaint side street near Lake Harriet, which makes taking a picnic lunch on your little day trip the perfect idea! From the moment you arrive, the uniqueness of this gem of a bookstore greets you at the door. There’s a tiny door for the kids to enter and a larger door for the adults, though you could also crawl through the dwarf sized door and you probably wouldn’t get any strange looks. Ha!  Inside of the bookstore, there is a HUGE variety of books for all ages as well as some novelty items. The staff is super helpful and friendly and can even order books to be delivered to your door if they aren’t currently in stock. My kids found titles in Wild Rumpus that they hadn’t come across before in other bookstores which is really fun! Perhaps the most unexpected part of this one of a kind bookstore is that there are actually several pets that call the bookstore home and roam the shelves freely. The kids love trying to see if they can spot all of the pets as some of them are fairly elusive. Ha! (I wonder why:)    I think my favorite pet would be either Caldecott the chinchilla or Neil the chicken. Perhaps yours would be the tarantula. #nothanks  If you live locally and haven’t been to Wild Rumpus, it’s a must see for sure!

Another one of our favorite places to visit in the summer is Como Town!  We haven’t quite mustered up the courage to take the kids to the Minnesota State Fair so when it comes to rides their experience is pretty limited and their exposure hasn’t been more than Como Town and a trip or two to ValleyFair. Como Town is located in St. Paul and is in the same vicinity as Como Zoo and The Como Park Conservatory. Entrance into all 3 destinations is free, however, a donation is encourage!  I love Como Town because it’s not very big and is super easy to check out most of the attractions within just a few hours. Being that my kids are between the ages of 2-8. I try to find things that all 3 would be interested in or entertained by and this stop fits the bill! You could easily checkout Como Zoo while you’re there too and make a day of it!

This year, we visited Fawn-Doe-Rosa in St. Croix Falls, WI for the first time. I’ve heard about it over the years and had just never gotten around to making the trip and I’m so glad we finally got around to it! This place is so neat, upon entrance to the park you will be greeted by so.many.deer just lounging around, waiting for you to come feed them some of the food you purchased in the store along with your admission ticket. The park is huge and there’s a trail that winds it’s way through, you’re welcome to “offroad it” but I would not recommend it as there are lots of animal droppings for you step in, insert clenched teeth emoji here. I mean…unless you’re into testing your ability to determine which animal the “scat” came from?! Let’s just stop there and say stick to the trail. There were also chicken, goats, pigs, bunnies, racoons, etc. Laney and Camryn even enjoyed taking a ride on the ponies! There aren’t any real food options at Fawn-Doe-Rosa, so I would definitely recommend packing a picnic lunch. There are tons of picnic tables and a playground for kids to play on once their done!

One thing we have not missed out on this summer is our share of ice cream!  We have made it to a few of our summertime favs and even added some new ones into the mix this year! Here are a couple of pics of our recent stops!

Knoke’s Chocolate and Nuts in Hudson, WI

Valley Sweets Ice Cream in St. Croix Falls, WI

Selma’s Ice Cream in Afton, MN

Some of the other boxes we’ve checked on our summer bucket list are: campfire in the driveway with neighbors, sleepover with friends, annual family vacation (read more on our trip to Ohio here) , movie on a rainy, corn on the cob cookout (which I blogged about here).

What’s on your summer bucket list?1 I’d love to add some more things to our list and can’t wait to recap the rest of our summer in a couple of weeks. Should I be embarrassed by the fact that it will probably include at least a few more ice cream shops? Ha!

Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday ladies! We made it!!Finding My Mojo Blog

On Fridays I link up with Grace and Love, Momfessionals and A Little Bit of Everything blogs to share what things we’re favoriting this week! Here it goes ladies:

  1. Phone mount for my car ~starting August 1 the state of Minnesota highway patrol is going to crack down on drivers using their phones while operating their vehicles. While it’s always been illegal to do anything other than talk or use GPS on your phone while driving they will be more strictly enforcing these laws and have said only “one touch” operation of the phone will be allowed. I use my GPS all day long on days that I work and often have my phone in my hand to see the route more clearly so this device is super handy for me. I’ve had it for a couple of weeks and really love it!

2. Justin’s Dark Peanut Butter Cups~ I feel like if I don’t have something with chocolate on my favorite list every week…I haven’t really listed all my favorite things. #whoswithme  I picked these up at Target but I know they sell them at most grocery stores and even sell them individually wrapped at Starbucks. All I’m going to say is YUMM!

3. Kid’s Bog Boots~

Apparently Camryn was just as excited as I was when these beauts showed up at our door. I ordered them during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, which is still going on, and they were such a good price! We love these boots around our house because you can wear them in the rain and snow (they are made to withstand temps up to -30deg which we need here in the frozen Tundra) , they’re SUPER durable and the kids can easily take them on and off themselves. I usually buy 1 size up for each of the kids so they can get a couple of seasons out of them!

Findingmy Mojo Blog
Swimsuit…optional, boots are a non-negotiable. Ha!

4. Birkenstocks

I talked about my love for my Birks in an earlier post this week when I mentioned what I’m wearing. I wear them ALL THE TIME and I’m so glad I got them. They’re super comfortable, durable and I can wear them with just about anything. Win. Win. Win!

5. This Girl on a Swing~ Camryn loves to swing on swings and she is just the sweetest because she just keeps saying “higher, higher, go higher”! I swear she thinks she’s about to touch the sky. I love her so and SHE is one of my favorites! Ovi, I just realized I have not one but three pics of her on this post #sorryotherkidsbut2yearoldsarecute

6. Vacation Bible School~ Laney had vacation bible school this week and she totally LOVED it. Seeing her learn more about how much God loves her is one my favorite things too.

7. Stella and Dot~ Jewels from Stella&Dot have been one of my favorite things for a long time. When I saw the fall line come out a couple of weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to be more than just a customer and that I wanted to spread the SD love myself! I’m excited to have joined one of my favorite companies! Woot! Woot!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend!

5 Ways We Switched to Safer!

Before I knew better, I went about choosing what I purchase for our family with regards to household products by what was easily accessible, inexpensive or familiar to me. More often than not, the choices I used to make were carried over from what I grew up with. Over the last several years, I’ve made more of an effort to bring products into our home that are safer my family and for the environment. With so many different products to choose from, we’re often faced with a wealth of misinformation and while we might be thinking we’re making a safe product choice we’re often tricked by “green washing”. Green washing is often used when companies attempt to capitalize on the consumer’s desire to purchase “organic”, “safe” and “environmentally products” by using deceptive advertising strategies. One of the ways I get through all of the misinformation is by using the EWG app on my phone or by going to their website The Environmental Working Group provides a wealth of information when it comes to safer options for food, household and skincare products, cosmetics, etc.

In this post, I’m going to focus on household products using the EWG’s Guide to Healthy Cleaning.

  1. Seventh Generation Free & Clear Laundry Pods ~ these guys score an A+ on the EWG app, meaning they are one of the cleanest options when it comes to washing your clothing for your family. Why choose a “clean” laundry detergent for your family? Most laundry detergents on the market are petroleum based, petroleum is a know endocrine disrupter which can impact our metabolism, hormones and reproduction. Many laundry detergents also contain fragrance, which are made of phthalates. Not only are phthalates endocrine and hormone disruptors, they are  harmful to our air and water supplies. It’s important to note that just because a brand has one A+ rated item, it doesn’t mean that all of their products are rated that way. Adding fragrance significantly reduces how “safe” or “clean” a product is. img_0130
  2. This brings me to the second way we’ve switched to safer. We use wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. While I sometimes miss the “fresh” smell of Bounce or get frustrated by a little extra clinginess in our clothing, it’s worth it knowing I’m not using products that are both damaging to the environment and harmful to our bodies. I got our dryer balls off of Amazon awhile ago but I know Norwex has them too! In order to get a little extra scent into the laundry, I add a couple drops of Essential Oils to the dryer balls. img_0131
  3. Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent Pods~ another A+. Choosing a healthier option for your dishwasher detergent will help your family avoid the list of harmful chemicals that are normally used to create detergent, like bleach, fragrance and dyes. These chemicals can potentially cause adverse side effects like endocrine disruption, respiratory issues and carcinogenic effects.img_0128
  4. Aunt Fannie’s Floor Cleaner~ A+. I recently placed an order from The Grove and purchased this floor cleaner for both our hardwood and tiled floors. I love the smell and the fact that it’s not leaving behind harmful chemicals. img_0132
  5. Seventh Generation Multipurpose Disinfecting Cleaner~ A+. With cold and flu season nearly behind us, this stuff was a lifesaver for us this winter. There are many multi-purpose disinfecting cleaners that score really poorly, for something that you’re spraying all over every surface of your home this is one I’d want to be sure is safe for my family.
7th generation
Sorry, stock photo because I ran out!

This post was just a short round up of some of my favorite household products and how they rate on the EWG. Through this process, I also found out some of our products were not so great (dish soap and hand soap being two of them!) If you haven’t checked out your products before and how they rate on safety, I’d encourage you to do so! We use Amazon’s Subscribe and Save and The Grove to purchase our products. I included a referral link for The Grove it you want to check it out!

Have a great day!

Let’s Look!

Let's Look Link

This Wednesday I’m teaming up with A Little Bit of Everything and Mix and Match Mama for their “Let’s Look” link up! This month we’re looking at Our Favorite Reads and let me tell you, I wish I was reading more!  I really enjoy reading but never seem to find a lot of time to sit down and enjoy a good book. I should say though, I read at least 30 minutes a day but that reading is done with my kids at night before they go to bed. We’ve always read to each of the kids at night, they pick the books and often I even read to our oldest, Parker, who can read on his own now.  Anyway, I digress…

It would be really hard for me to say what my Favorite Reads are because I’ve read a ton of books over the years and sadly my memory is not that great. HA!  That being said,  here are a few that come to mind when I think of my FAVORITE reads.

A few years ago, I was introduced to the Winter Street series by Elin Hilderbrand. I love reading this series around Christmas time.  Most of Elin’s books take place in New England and I LOVE that about her books.   New England is one of my favorite places in the US to visit.  I’ve read the entire 4 book series and would totally recommend them as light, easy reads!

Winter street

Another book that I REALLY LOVED was “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. I had to have read this book more than 10 years ago and I’ve always held on to it because I remember thinking the entire time I was reading it what a fantastic book it is. The story takes place in Afghanistan during war times, it’s a tale of hardship, friendship, peril and so much more. I would recommend this book!

I read “Summer at Tiffany: A Memoir” by Marjorie Hart this past summer and LOVED this book too! Of course, as many of my favorite books do, this one takes place on the East Coast. In this book, Marjorie recounts the summer of her Junior year in college and how she and her friend took off for New York to work at Tiffany & Co.  I just love this book because I felt like I had a chance to live vicariously through Marjorie and imagine what would it would be like to go to an unknown city without a real plan and end up spending the summer working at a world renowned jeweler in the 1940’s. Such a cool story!

I’m currently listening to “Rising Strong” by Brene Brown on CD, which I borrowed from the library. I love to read personal development books or listen to podcasts. I’m really excited to finish this one! Here’s a quote I pulled from the book.

Rachel Hollis’s “Girl Wash Your Face” is also an absolute favorite of mind. It’s so inspirational and uplifting. Which reminds me…I need to pre-order her book “Girl Stop Apologizing”! Anyone else love her and have you pre-ordered the next book?!girl wash your face.PNG

Thank you for stopping by my blog today are reading about my Favorite Reads!! I would love to hear what some of yours are too, comment below with what your favorite books are! Happy Wednesday!

Friday Favorites!

It’s Friday and I’m linking up with A Little Bit of Everything, Momfessionals, and Grace and Love again!  I’m super excited to be taking a little time out of my Thursday afternoon to write this quick post. I really enjoy blogging and sharing how I’m Finding My Mojo, thank you again for following along. I am going to work on being more intentional AND consistent with my posts and I hope you find that to be the case over the weeks to come!

1. It’s February and that means we are still in the thick of hockey season and I have to say, watching my little guy play hockey is most definitely one of my FAVORITE things. I  love watching him play!  It makes my heart so happy to see him doing one of the things he loves most!!

2. My Peloton bike has been a FAVORITE thing of mine for awhile now. Before I had kids, I used to LOVE going to the gym to take spin classes before work and would often be there at 5:30 in the morning just to take a class with my favorite instructor. I’ve tried to get back into spinning over the years but due to inconsistent schedules with the kids and something always seeming to get in the way, I was never able to make it to classes on a consistent basis. Then, about 2 years ago, a friend of mine mentioned a new bike she just got called a Peloton. Soon afterwards, I noticed a pop-up Peloton boutique at the Mall of America. I checked the bike out in the boutique and it was love at first site, except for I didn’t love the price tag.  After months and months of contemplating the purchase, my husband surprised me with it as my Mother’s Day/Birthday gift. This bike is seriously amazing! The quality is top notch and the catalogue of on-demand classes you can take, in addition to live classes throughout the day, is top notch!!  You can pick your class by instructor, length of time, music genre, type of ride and more…this bike is definitely one of my most FAVORITE things ever!! My favorite instructor is Ally Love, she’s very motivational and really knows how to put together a good workout. If you have a Peloton, who is your favorite instructor? Come follow me at mojosbike and we can ride together!!

If you’ve been thinking about getting a Peloton but haven’t bitten the bullet yet, use my referral code, NXRWW6 ,  during your purchase and we both get $100 in accessories! #winwin

3. Okay, so I am SOOOOO late to the party on this but I am just now reading Jo Anna Gaines’ book “The Magnolia Story“.  I love this book so much. I’m haven’t finished it yet but I’m really enjoying reading about how they’ve created their life together! I borrowed the book from the library but I think I may need to get my own copy.

Before I started reading “The Magnolia Story” I had already been subscribing to the Magnolia Journal. Last week the kids had 4 SNOW DAYS and we spend a lot of time indoors due to the frigid temps. We made the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread from the Magnolia Journal and it was so good!

Do any of you have the Magnolia Cookbook?  Share your favorite recipes in the comments!!

4. Okay, who doesn’t love a good donut?  This question brings me to my 4th FAVORITE this week. The town we live in just got a new Donut shop and these donuts are so good and worth every bit of hype they’ve been getting! Does anyone else have a Duck Donuts near them?!?! If you do and you’ve never tried their donuts, RUN don’t walk to get one. *** the running will help to burn the calories you’ll consume when you eat one of these delicious, made to order donuts!

5. Last favorite to top off this list of FRIDAY FAVORITES!!  I’ve mentioned before that I’m an educator and consultant for a company called Beautycounter.  Our goal is to get safer beauty products into the hands of everyone and promote better regulation of the beauty industry. Sometimes, we have promotions and now is one of those times!

For a limited time only,  now thru February 20, if you purchase one of our Flawless in Five Sets you get a complimentary complexion brush. Yes, please!!

The Flawless in Five set is one of my FAVORITES because you get to pick your shade for all of your beauty basics and these products are awesome! In the winter, I mix a little bit of the linen and sand tint skin shades for my foundation.  I love the Peony lip gloss and Guava blush!!  In addition to the complimentary complexion brush, you also get to choose between the eye brow pencil and our new brow gel…I know which one I’m choosing!!

If you need help choosing your shades or have any questions. Comment below with your email and I’ll get in touch with you! Otherwise, click here to shop!

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend everyone!!

Friday Favorites!

It’s Friday and I’m back with A Little Bit of Everything, Grace and Love and Momfessionals to share some of my FAVORITE things this Friday!

First, can I just say…someone pinch me! I cannot believe it’s December 14th already. I’ve been busy making my list and checking it twice this holiday season and we’ve definitely been enjoying ourselves with holiday celebrations!  What are some of your favorite holiday traditions or things you look forward to most each year?

First up….

This Tree Dazzler! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I hadn’t until a few weeks ago when I was on a girls weekend and a couple of my girlfriends mentioned their Tree Dazzler. Basically, it’s a halo (fitting for the season) with 8 different strands of lights hanging from it. You place the halo on the top of your tree and drape the strings of lights down the branches.

My husband and I really enjoy the beauty of all white Christmas lights on the tree but the kids enjoy multi-colored lights. The Tree Dazzler allows you to choose from 16 different light settings, which is so fun for the kids and changes things up depending on how you want the tree to look! I found mine at our local Ace Hardware but you can get them on Amazon too!

Here’s our tree, along with the Dazzler, in all her glory!

Second up..

I’ve always loved The Grinch movie and awhile ago I had found a bunch of Grinch themed goodies and beverages on Pinterest to go with our movie night. These Grinch cookies were a hit and have become an annual delicacy at our house! They are SUPER easy to make and delicious. This year, the kids and I even packaged them up and delivered them to the school bus drivers.

Here’s the Recipe!

My Third Favorite this week…

Camryn had her first holiday show for dance class. These tots were just so adorable dancing to their favorite holiday songs. It was definitely fun to see Camryn bop around to the music and get into the performance.

Fourth Fav…

I am OBSESSED with these Kate Spade stud earrings that are currently on sale at Nordstrom, they have such a variety of stones to choose from and in my opinion they’re the perfect little accessory. We’re gifting a couple of the kid’s teachers with these little gems this year!

And lastly, these two little loves have spent a lot of time reading together this week. We have a large collection of Christmas books that the kids have been enjoying this season and I’m glad to see them spending time together reading them!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

How We… Make Lunches

I’m linking up with Erika and Shay today and sharing How We Do Lunches!  This is a great linkup because I’m sure we could all use some new lunch ideas!

How-We Wednesdays

It’s that time of year again and back to school means it’s time to starting making sure we have all the supplies to start the year off right. Up until this year, we only had one school aged kiddo and we used a Yumbox to package his lunch in. I LOVE these compartmentalized lunchboxes because they keep everything together, mostly leak proof and are just the right portion sizes. They also fit perfectly into Pottery Barn’s Cold Pack Lunchbox, however, that’s the ONLY thing that will fit in there! This post is reminding me that I need to order one up for Laney too! I’m thinking I may get another 2-3 Yumboxes, so we can have them in rotation.

So, what do I put in their lunch you ask?!  I always to try to pack a main “entrée”, vegetable, fruit and then a carb or treat of some sort. Here’s a list of some of the things we’ve tried.

  • Sandwiches (in wraps, bread, pita pockets)
  • Cheese, Crackers and Sausage
  • Fruit or fruit pouches (like go squeeze)
  • Carrots/broccoli/cauliflower   One of my kiddos NEVER eats the veggie I put in their lunch box, any suggestions to sneak something healthy in there that they’ll eat?!
  • Trail mix
  • Yogurt
  • Chips

Sometimes we’ll have leftovers that the kid’s really enjoy and I’ll want to send something warm in their lunchboxes. In these instances, we use Kid’s Thermos.   I generally fill the Thermos with hot/boiling water and let it sit for awhile to “prime” the Thermos before I put the food in. I prepare the lunch to be heated the night before so I’m not monkeying around with that in the morning and it’s ready to go when I am. I heat the food to be served extra hot, in hopes that it’s warm buy lunch time. Then, I empty the hot water out of the Thermos and add the food. Wala!

Some of the foods we’ve put in a Thermos are:

  • pasta
  • casseroles
  • chicken nuggets wrapped in dry paper towel to keep out moisture
  • soup

Anyone else ever try this? Would love some more suggestions!

Lastly, I pack my lunches in these glass containers I found on Amazon.

I like them because I can store foods that need to be heated in them and they also have a compartment in the lid for utensils!

When it comes to getting ready for school, packing lunches is one of my LEAST favorite things to do.  Now, if I packed the same thing for each kid each day it would be a breeze but I try to give their lunches some variety. Sometimes, at the end of the day the last thing I want to think about it what to put in the lunch box. So, I’m looking forward to checking out what others have to say on this matter! Also, if you’ve ever heard me talk about Take Back the Kitchen (a weekly meal planning service developed by a registered dietician) then you may be interested in Take Back the Lunchbox!  It’s a new service that is going to be launching soon where clients will get a weekly list of lunchbox ideas, I’m super excited about the launch! If you’re interested in learning more reach out or comment below!

Thanks for reading!

Camryn’s 1st Birthday Celebration!

We can’t believe our sweet baby girl is already 1! We had such a wonderful time celebrating her birthday with friends and family a couple of weeks ago.  Camryn’s party was a pink and gold “little pumpkin” theme. I found her invites on Etsy, they turned out so cute!  I usually find the kid’s invites on Etsy, have the PDF file sent to me and then print them at a local printer. So easy!““img_8520””

I had so much fun coming up with décor for the party!  Here are some of the things I made on my own, the rest of the decorations I picked up from Hobby Lobby, Target or ordered online from Amazon.

“1” Candle. I picked up a regular “1” candle, dipped it in Elmer’s glue and then sprinkled it with gold glitter. For a person that’s not crafty AT ALL, I thought it turned out pretty good!

“O N E” High Chair Banner. To make the banner I drew a pumpkin freehand and used it to make a stencil for the rest of the banner. I used heavyweight pink cardstock from Hobby Lobby. For the letters I used a stencil and cut the letters out on gold glitter cardstock, also from Hobby Lobby. I strung the pumpkins together with gold ribbon. I also ended up making a Happy 1st Birthday banner with the same pumpkin stencil.

For the “memory lane” board I found gold glitter clothespins at Hobby Lobby and hung 1 picture for each of the 12 months from it. I cut out mini pumpkins and wrote the corresponding month on the pumpkin with a gold pen.

Even though what I did was pretty minimal, I was super proud of putting my crafting skills to the test for one last 1st Birthday!

““img_8521””My super awesome sister was in charge of taking pictures at the party because I had my hands full, so I have her to thank for the rest of the pictures from the party!

Here’s my little pumpkin on her birthday!  I found her onesie, tutu and headband on Etsy at Fly Away Jo.

We kept the menu for her party really simple, as there were more than 40 friends and family there and I knew I’d be busy!  One of the items on the menu were my Grandma’s delicious Ham and Cheese Sliders. These are seriously sooooo good!

Camryn 1st Birthday
Grandma Sherry dishin’ up sliders!

Grandma’s Sliders

1 pkgs Hawiian Rolls (1 dozen)

1 lbs deli ham

1 tsp onion powder

 1 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard

1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp. poppy seeds

1/2 cup butter

12 slices swiss cheese

Directions: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice tops from the bottom of rolls and place in the bottom of a baking pan.   Layer ham and cheese on each roll and replace the tops. Melt the butter and whisk in the remaining ingredients, make sure you mix well. Drizzle evenly over each roll, I use a basting brush with rubber bristles to spread evenly. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand for 2 minutes and enjoy!

Camryn thoroughly enjoyed her cake! I figured the best time to get pictures of her stationary, she’s on the move these days, was when she was busy eating her cake!

Camryn 1st BirthdayCamryn 1st BirthdayCamryn 1st Birthday

That’s a wrap for our little loves birthday party! We were so thankful and felt so blessed to have so much of our family be able to celebrate with us.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my Friday Favorites!

Camryn’s First Birthday!

Elyse Rethlake Photography

One year ago today, we headed off to the hospital knowing we were finally going to meet our baby girl. What we didn’t know was how absolutely perfect she would fit into our family, like a missing puzzle piece she fit right in. We didn’t know the love her siblings would have for her from the very start. We didn’t know how easy her smile would be and the way she would light up a room. We didn’t know how at the age of one she would already love to play games, like peek-a-boo and keep-away (wonder where she learned that). We didn’t know that although we’d be teaching her many things, she’d be teaching us things like how to sweat the small stuff less and to laugh at how crazy life can be sometimes. We knew on that very first day and every day since then that this girl is perfection and we absolutely adore her. We cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for us. Camryn Shae, please have a conversation with time and tell it to slow down!

Today, one of my favorite bloggers over at A Little Bit of Everthing wrote about the names of the people in her family and how their names came to be.  After reading, I thought I’d share here how our sweet Camryn Shae’s name came about. Now….you can only read further if you promise not to think I’m crazy!

So several years ago, one of my best friends and I started following a couple of bloggers, Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer Told Me To (Formerly known as Pinterest Told Me To). We’d been reading their blogs for forever and one day I was talking about how I really liked the name Sheaffer. We joked that the only way I was ever going to be able to have a child with that name is if we had another girl and I could then name her Sheaffer. This is when we only had two children, Parker and Delaney. A couple of years went by and occasionally we would make reference to the name Sheaffer and how if I had another girl…that’s what her name would be! Well, as fate would have it, we did get pregnant for a 3rd time! Nearly the entire pregnancy, we were positive our baby girl’s name was going to be Sheaffer…but there was something keeping me from saying I was 100% certain. The name Camryn wasn’t even on the list but Camille and Chloe were!  Baby girl was born in the morning on October 5 and she did not have a name until October 6, I was so exhausted after having her I couldn’t even begin to think about her name. Is that bad?!  At some point during the night, I woke up to feed her and the name came to me. Jared woke in the morning and I said to Jared,, “I think her name is Camryn Shae”.  He agreed that her name was perfection. So there it is, a beautiful name inspired by two of my favorite bloggers (Sheaffer and Shay)! Ha!img_3766This picture was taken just before I had Camryn!

Welcome to the world Camryn Shae! Born October 5, 2016 @ 11:04am- 8lbs9ozimg_4201

My whole world (almost, hubby not pictured), all wrapped up in these 3 beautiful faces!

There aren’t enough photos in the world to capture all of the memories made this last year but here are just a few!

This past weekend we celebrated our baby girl turning 1 with family and friends and I promised party pics but I’m still working on the photos…so you’ll have to wait in suspense for next week;)

Thank you so very much for stopping by at Finding My Mojo and reading a little bit about one of my greatest blessings.

What’s Up Wednesday!

It’s What’s Up Wednesday! On the last Wednesday of every month, The Larson Lingo, Mix & Match Mama and Sheaffer Told Me To host a link up where we talk about What’s Up! When Shay posted yesterday that today is What’s Up Wednesday I had to double check my calendar…how is it possible we’re at the end of September already?!

Every WUW, we answer these questions:

WUWquestions-edit-969x10241. What we’re eating this week…

My family and I are still rockin’ Take Back the Kitchen’s weekly menus. I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 6 weeks, it’s been a total mealtime game changer.

Here’s our menu this week:

We’re also eating Mix and Match Mama’s Apple Butterscotch Pecan bread, unfortunately there are no pictures because it was devoured in .0006 seconds by my kids and their friends after school yesterday!

2.  What I’m reminiscing about…

I can’t say that I’m reminiscing about anything right now…mama ain’t got time for that at the moment!

3. What I’m loving…

The change in the seasons! It was in the high 80’s here in Minnesota last weekend. Let me tell you, it was so hot watching Parker play flag football Saturday morning. I was begging for some cooler weather!  A couple of days into the week this week and we have some “normal” temps, around 65 degrees. I love the leaves changing, cozier nights at home and getting to watch Parker play football!

4.What we’ve been up to…

Now that school’s back in session, we’re pretty much back to a “normal” routine. On the days I’m home with the girls, Laney goes to gymnastics and dance in the mornings. Afterwards, we run errands for a little bit before we have lunch and I get Camryn down for nap.  Last year was Laney’s first year of dance and while she liked it, almost EVERY TIME we went she would say she wanted to go to gymnastics instead. She really loved being a part of the recital at the end of the dance season last year, so we signed her up again. We are also giving gymnastics a try this fall and she’s totally loving it! I love watching her, she is a ball of energy and such a free spirit! Parker has football a couple of nights a week and plays a game every Saturday morning. Mostly we’re hustling these kids around, trying to keep this house in order and working on the mudroom/office/laundry area remodel…there’s not too much time for anything else!  We did have family pictures last Sunday, fingers crossed they turn out!!

5.  What I’m dreading…

I’m totally dreading putting everything back into the office, laundry room and mudroom.  There is just SO. MUCH. STUFF!!  We’ve lived in our house nearly 10 years and during the course of that time I think we’ve been hanging onto a lot things we should’ve gotten ride of a long time ago.

Exhibit A

img_8074I’ve been told that neither of my girls are going to care what the wedding trends were in 2006 when they get married. Maybe Parker will be interested?! Ha!

6. What I’m Excited About…

My sister is coming into town from San Francisco on Friday and I am SO EXCITED!!! She moved to San Francisco a little over a year ago and I LOVE when I get to see her. I’m try to drop subtle hints as much as possible that she needs to move back…she may tell you that my hints are not subtle. Don’t believe her.img_7231.jpg7. What I’m Watching/Reading…

I love to read but unfortunately I’m not reading much of anything these days. I’d like to know, how do others fit it into their schedules? I just feel like at the end of the day I have ZERO time to sit down and read. I did, however, finish the final season of Grey’s Anatomy. I usually turn on Grey’s when I sit down to do my patient documentation at night, multitasking at it’s finest. I thought the season was good overall but that last episodes left me wanting more! Why couldn’t they have wrapped everything up nicely and put a bow on it at the end instead of leaving things open ended?

8. What I’m Listening to…

I listen to Wedding Song Radio on Pandora a lot.  I find the music to be relaxing and sweet to listen to and sometimes the kids dance with each other to it. Now that’s enough to make my hear melt.

9. What I’m Wearing…

The weather has been so unpredicatable here, last weekend it was hot enough for shorts and now it’s definitely cooled off. I just got this dress from Nordstrom’s and I love it already. It’s super comfortable and versatile, easy to wear last weekend when the temps were HOT and I can throw a jacket over it now that it’s cooled off a bit.  It also comes in a TON of colors!  I also NEED these jeans from Evereve in my closest (like yesterday!), I’m loving the step hem!

10. What I’m Doing this Weekend…

This weekend we’re celebrating our sweet baby girl’s 1rst birthday.  I don’t know how this past year went by so quickly…but it did. We’re so excited to celebrate with friends and family! Stay tuned next week because I’ll be recapping her party!img_802711. What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month…

Over the kid’s MEA weekend we’re dropping our sweet angels off at their Grandpa and Grandma’s house and Jared and I are headed to Chicago for the weekend. We’re in desperate need of a getaway and I’m so happy we have this to look forward to!

12.  What Else is New…

That’s a wrap as far as what’s up with us!
