Friday Favorites!

It’s Friday and I’m back with my favorites! Today, I’m linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea and all I can say is, TGIF!!img_82011. First up, Halloween!

I have a love/hate relationship with this holiday. As an adult, I don’t really get into coming up with a costume (mostly because I’m just not that creative to think of anything good) and I don’t like to waste the time and money thinking about it. I do, however, love to help the kids choose their costumes. I don’t love when they decide, after I’ve already bought said costume, that they want to be something else. #FTL! I typically stay home and pass out candy, I love seeing all of the kids and the costumes they’ve come up with. I don’t love when the doorbell is still ringing after our kid’s have gone to bed. #shhhdontwakethebaby I love walking up to doors with our own kids and hearing them say “trick or treat” in their sweet little voices, I don’t love all the candy they haul home. #sugarfordays    It’s kind of become a tradition that my brother, his wife (Missy) and my niece Skylar come over on Halloween for dinner and trick or treating. Skylar is just 7 months old so she hung back with Cami, while my brother went with Jared, Parker and Laney. Overall, we had a great night. See you next year Halloween!

Laney as a Good Witch Parker as Ash the Pokémon Collector
All 3 of our munchkins and my niece Skylar the cupcake. I’m not sure she knows what to do with all the commotion at our house!
The outtake. This pic was taken just after Jared had taken Cami’s bottle away from her before the picture was taken. Camryn “give me back my bottle Daddy!”. Parker “Dad, are you sure this is a good idea?”. Laney “Give her the dang bottle already Dad.” Hahaha! Thanks for catching this pic Uncle Tyler!
All of the kid’s in their jammies after trick or treating!
Camryn checking out the empty candy bucket the next morning, haha!

2. Kate Somerville’s Dry Skin Saver

I stopped into Nordstrom’s last week to get a new mascara, while there I asked the salesperson if there was anything she would recommend for dry, chapped lips. My skin gets sooo dry and my lips get so chapped when the weather starts to cool down. It’s really bad and lasts all winter long. I’ve tried all different kinds of lip balms and try to stay hydrated but nothing seems to work. Well, the salesperson recommended this Dry Skin Saver , for the face, body and lips. Downside is, it only comes in this large bottle so you’ve got to put it in a smaller container to take it on the go. So far, I feel like it’s really helped to keep my lips moisturized. Anyone else have anything they swear by to remedy dry, cracked lips?

kateS3. Trish McEvoy Mascara

Since I mentioned that I had gone to Nordys for my mascara fix, I should probably tell you which one’s my fav.  I LOVE Trish’s High Volume Mascara.  I’ve been a mascara “snob” for a long time and think that you pay more for a better quality mascara but I have friends who SWEAR by their Maybelline mascara or other drugstore brands. So a few months ago, I cheated on Trish and bought some Maybelline. I didn’t mind the drugstore mascara too much but in my opinion it doesn’t last as long and is much more difficult to get off than Trish’s. So back to Trish I went. I’m showing you a stock photo because I actually didn’t get my mascara that day. Starting today, Nordstrom’s is running their buy 2 get 1 free mascara promo (I’m not sure how long it runs). I gave all my info to the Nordy’s salesperson last week and once the sale starts they’ll just ship them to me. Nothing beats Nordstrom’s customer service. For those of you wondering if the mascara will keep if you’re buying 3 at once, the salesperson told me that as long as the tube stays closed it can last 10 years. Yes, 10 years. Now, I go through one tube every 3-4 months so I’m not too worried;)mascara

4. Hallmark Movies Now

Last week, I noticed a new app on our Sony Blu-ray player called Hallmark Movies Now. We only have basic TV channels, Amazon Prime and Netflix. There are so many more options out there now to watch my favorite shows than there were 5 years ago. It’s getting easier and easier to access the shows I want without having to pay the premium price of having all of the cable channels. Anyway, Hallmark Movies Now offers a free 7-day trial period and then is $5.99/month after for the subscription. I’ve heard there aren’t any holiday movies on the app but maybe that will change once Christmas gets a little closer. #onecanonlyhope  For now, I’m enjoying the large selection of sappy movies:)

5. Grace, Not Perfection

I finished this book while we were on our trip to Chicago a couple of weeks ago. I’m really not great about “reviewing” books, all I can say is I really enjoyed it. The author, Emily Ley, designs daily planners so the aesthetics and design of the book are beautiful and eye catching. The book itself offers words of encouragement to us mamas who are in the trenches of motherhood and trying to fake it till we make it!

6. Mani/Pedis with one of my besties

I escaped the house last Sunday for pedis with one of my besties. Getting away with my girlfriends, especially this one, is definitely one of my favorite things. We were chatting too much and I forgot to take a pic but here’s a pic of my perfectly polished nails. Woot!img_8797

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you all have a great weekend spending time with friends and family! Wish me luck this weekend, I’ll be flying solo while Jared’s off hunting deer with my dad and brother.

Weekend Recap!

I blinked and now it’s Monday. Anyone else feel that way?! I hope you all had a great weekend, ours was filled with A LOT of Halloween and baby celebrations!

On Friday night, we headed up to Parker’s school for the Fall Festival.  The kids dressed up in their costumes. Camryn was a kitty and ended up falling asleep in the stroller as the DJ blared Halloween tunes! Laney dressed up as a (good) witch and Parker threw on a Wild jersey and called himself a hockey player. He has an Ash costume from the show Pokémon but he was afraid to wear it because he thought other kids would make fun of him. Jared and I both encouraged him to wear it because he LOVES Pokémon and also because we want him to know that it doesn’t matter what other people think (as long as he’s being kind and following the rules). I pray that our kids have the confidence to be who they are, even if it’s not the “cool” thing. Ultimately, we let him make the choice though…no big deal!  While we were at the festival, we saw another Ash…this Ash is in 3rd grade so I’m thinking that since the 3rd grader thought it was cool enough Parker will soon be wearing his Ash costume too!

On Saturday morning, I took Parker and Laney to a little Halloween bash at our local grocery store. They enjoyed throwing their costumes on again and obviously they were super happy to be filling their candy buckets!

Later Saturday afternoon we headed over to my friend Tonya’s house. Tonya is one of my good friends from high school.  She and her family just build a beautiful house, which is a good thing they have all that extra space because they’ll be welcoming their 4th and 5th babies in a couple of months. They already have 3 kids (one set of twins) and come December they will have 5 kids 4 and under. I mean, she is the epitome of super mom!  Tonya’s parents threw her and her sister, who is also expecting, a Little Pumpkin baby shower and we had so much fun showering them with love!  We can’t wait to meet their newest little bundles. Here’s a picture of some of my high school girlfriends that were also able to attend.

On Sunday night, we went over to my friend Alek’s house to bring her and her sweet family dinner. They just had a new baby girl at the beginning of September. She is such a sweetie!  I brought them one of my favorite chili recipes from Take Back the Kitchen and it was a hit!

Have a great week and a very Happy Halloween everyone!!

What’s Up Wednesday!

It’s the last Wednesday of the month, how did that happen?, so that means I linking up with Sheaffer Told Me To, The Larson Lingo and Mix & Match Mama for their monthly link up.   I was looking back at my September What’s Up Wednesday and noticed I was asking myself the same question then as to how the end of the month had come so quickly. I really can’t believe how quickly time flies!

Without further ado, here are the questions I’m answering this, and every, Wednesday!WUWquestions-edit-969x1024

What We’re Eating This Week

We’re continuing to use Take Back the Kitchen for our meal planning menus in our household. Having someone else plan my menu and make my grocery list allows me a little extra time during the week to “find my mojo”! Typically, we choose just a couple of the meals from each menu because we often have leftovers…here’s our menu this week !

What I’m Reminiscing About

Often times when I’m home with just Camryn and Laney while Parker is at school, I catch myself thinking about how different things were back when I was home with Parker and Laney when they were little. Parker and Laney are a little under two years apart so they were both still taking naps  and we spent many of our days at home back a few years ago. Camryn and Laney are 4 years apart so instead of relaxing days at home, our days are filled with activities like gymnastics and dance. Camryn is on the move and all over the place so instead of sitting back, relaxing and watching said activities… I’m chasing her everywhere! I wouldn’t trade it for anything but it sure does keep me busy and it’s a whole different ball game being home with kids with a larger age gap! Here’s a few pics of Laney at gymnastics now and Parker and Laney at gymnastics when they were 2 and 4 years old!

What I’m Loving

I was loving the beautiful fall weather…last week it was in the 60s and 70s. The sun was shining, the leaves were turning, the temps were perfect for enjoying the outdoors. Flash forward to this week, it is CHILLY! We had a wind advisory here yesterday because it’s SO WINDY but I’m still loving the change in seasons, especially since it means we’re headed to my most favorite season of all, CHRISTMAS!!

What We’ve Been Up To

We just enjoyed a 4 day weekend because the kids were off from school last Thursday and Friday, I posted about Jared and I’s weekend getaway to Chicago here.  We had a great time. Parker just wrapped up his football season and is getting ready to start hockey here in a couple of weeks, let the ice time begin!!  Not looking forward to a 7am ice time coming up next weekend, yikes!!  Laney and I have been busy going to dance and gymnastics on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Other than that, it’s business as usual around here.

What I’m Dreading

Last month, I mentioned I was dreading putting everything back into the laundry room, office, bathroom and coat closet that we remodeled. Happy to say that that job has been taken care of, it really wasn’t that bad, and now I just need to decorate those rooms! Can’t say that I’m dreading anything right now, other than that 7am ice time next weekend.

What I’m Working On

Is this a trick question?! What am I not working on? I always feel like I’ve got a million balls up in the air…right now,  I’ve got a few things on my to do list. I need to book Laney’s birthday party, she wants to have it at Skyzone and order her invitations. My family is celebrating Christmas early this year when we get together for Thanksgiving so I’m working on making my list and checking it twice!

What I’m Excited About

We’re doing a Disney land and sea that’s being planned courtesy of Erika and Mix and Match Mama Travel Agency. We’re now less than 6 months away from our trip and I’m SUPER EXCITED about that!

What I’m Watching/Reading

Still watching Gossip Girl over here and reading my current favorite book, “Grace Not Perfection” by Emily Ley.

What I’m Listening To

I listen to Pandora at home and often have it set to Wedding Songs radio,  not sure how I ever found it but I love the mix of music on that station. Soon…I’ll be switching it up and playing Michael Buble Christmas!  When I’m at work I spend a lot of time in my car driving from patient to patient, I’d like to start listening to some podcasts…any recommendations?

What I’m Wearing

I was just thinking today that whenever I wear jeans and a top during the day, I don’t feel like I’m in the proper attire to get things done when I’m at home. It’s fine if I’m headed out somewhere but when I’m at home, I feel like I belong in yoga clothes or something of that nature so I can run around the house cleaning, cooking, playing, ect…  I still like to look put together when I’m wearing yoga or athletic clothes but I think I need an update!

What I’m Doing This Weekend

We have a fun weekend planned this weekend. On Friday night, there’s a fall festival at Parker’s school. The kids will get a chance to wear their costumes, play games, jump in bounce houses, get their faces painted and eat some carnival food. Should be a good time! Saturday afternoon we are going to a baby shower for one of my friends from high school who is due with babies #4 and #5. This is actually her 2nd set of twins!! I’m so excited to celebrate her and her sweet family:) On Sunday we’ll go to church and later in the afternoon we’ll head over my good friend Alek’s house to meet her new baby girl and bring them dinner.

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

Next month we’ll be celebrating Laney’s 5th birthday, Thanksgiving, ThanksChristmas with my family, my sister Kaili will be coming into town and we’ll start decorating for the holidays. Bring on the fun!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Weekend Recap~Chicago Trip!

Happy Monday!

I don’t know about you but I LOVE a long weekend, especially once the school year starts because it’s a break from the normal routine for ALL of us! In Minnesota, we have what’s called MEA break in the fall. I’m not exactly sure what the acronym MEA stands for but truth be told I know what I need to know…MEA equals a 4 day weekend for me and that’s all that matters! 😉   Jared and I decided we wanted to do something over the short break but we wanted to keep it pretty low key since we have a big trip with the kids planned in the spring. Neither of our parents live near us so we decided we’d take the kids to his parent’s house in Wisconsin and then we’d make the short drive to Chicago for the rest of the weekend. I’ve been to Chicago many times before but most of those visits were in my youth, I think I can say that now that I’m 35 right?!?!, so typically we weren’t doing as much sightseeing as we were checking out the best places to go dancing! That being said, I haven’t done too many touristy thing in Chicago.img_8554

Prior to our arrival, I made reservations at our hotel. I’m not sure why, but it was so hard for me to commit to which hotel we would stay at. When you don’t get away that often you want to be well taken care of! I was torn between spending a lot of money on a small boutique hotel because it was really pretty and had nice, soft robes and saving some cash and choosing a more economical option without sacrificing location and the comforts of a mid-range hotel The recommendations I was given were The Gray, The Athletic Club, The Langton, The Hard Rock Hotel and The Peninsula Hotel.  We ended up choosing the least expensive of the options and went with the Hard Rock Hotel. We had a few friends that actually stayed at the property and they said that although it wasn’t anything fancy it was a prime location, service was good and the value was great. We decided since we wouldn’t be spending much time at all in the hotel then this would be the best option for this trip. If I were to go again on a girl’s trip, I’d definitely choose the The Gray or The Peninsula, they are gorgeous properties!img_8572

The day we arrived, we dropped off our bags and walked to the Skydeck at Willis Tower, formerly Sears Tower. Chicago is a very walkable city and I feel like you get to experience and see so much more when you’re walking as opposed to driving, taking a cab, or riding a bus!  Once you take an elevator to the top floor of the Willis Tower, you can step out onto what’s called The Ledge which is a glass box that hangs out over the edge of the building allowing you to see the space directly below you! So Fun!

After we went up to the Skydeck we walked back along Michigan Avenue towards Navy Pier to meet one of my best friends at the W Hotel.   I had a Champagne Mojito, I mean what’s not to love about this cocktail…truly the best of both worlds!img_8570

From there, we continued to walk around the city stopping at The Beacon Tavern for a quick appetizer. We shared the Peekytoe Crab dip and it was delish, sorry no pics I was too hungry to bother with that. 😉 After much deliberation, we ended the evening at The Frontera Grill. The margs and tacos were on point!

After spending one day in the Windy City, my hair was a total wreck. Not in the mood to do my own hair, #iaintgottimeforthatonvacation, I made an appointment to have my hair blown out at the Dry Bar. I seriously wish I could do this everyday, it is such a treat to have someone else do your hair! #amiright  As far as I know, there are not any blowout bars in Minnesota. When I saw Jared after my appointment I was telling him I need to open a blowdry bar, stat!!  Anyone else love getting their hair blown out and do it regularly?

We had bought tickets to the Chicago Architectural Foundation’s boat tour for later that morning, on the way to the pier we stopped at the Rosebud on Rush for a quick bite. I got the crab cakes eggs benedict and it was divine. I wish I knew how to make a good eggs benedict, I actually have never tried! If you have any recipes or tips, comment below!!img_8573

There are a lot of different companies that offer the architectural boat tour but we were told that the one through the Architectural Foundation is of the highest quality and can’t be beat. Apparently, this is one of the best tours to take while in Chicago. We really lucked out this past weekend with fantastic weather. We took the morning architectural tour and it was beautiful to go up and down the river learning about the history of the city!

After we finished the boat tour, we checked out Navy Pier and shopped along Michigan Aveunue. I would totally recommend visiting this city as a couple, with friends or taking your family. If we were to   When we go back with the kids, I’d take them to the Skydeck, Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo, The Shedd Aquarium and to one of the many parks in the area. There is SO MUCH to see and do, I can’t wait to go back.img_8596

Here’s a pic of the Smores’ cupcake at Molly’s cupcakes, one of the pit stops we made as we walked around the city.

On our way out of the city, we stopped by my friend Kristen’s house for dinner. We loved spending time with her little family before heading back to ours!

Getting ready to head out of town with the kids was a little a lot hectic and returning to suitcases full of dirty laundry and a van that looked like a tornado had gone through it were not the highlights of the trip but having some time away with the hubs makes it so worth it!

Comment below if you have recommendations for a quick weekend getaway!

I’ll see you back here Wednesday for my “What’s Up Wednesday” link-up with  A Little Bit of Everything and Mix and Match Mama.

Friday Favorites

img_8555Happy Friday! I feel like I’ve been anticipating this weekend since school began 7 weeks ago. I’m not sure if it’s the same in the rest of the the country but in Minnesota we have what’s called MEA weekend and it’s the first “break” the kids have during the school year. This week is MEA week so the kids have been off from school since yesterday. If I think I’m happy about fall break, I can’t imagine how my teacher friends feel! Praise the lord for all the teachers out there. #howdotheydoit #theyresaintsitellyou

This Friday I’m linking up with A Little Bit of Everything, Momfessionals and Grace and Love  to tell you about my Friday Favorites!

1. Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner

I’m still reading “Grace not Perfection” by Emily Ley and love the design esthetic of her book so I decided to look more into her simplified planners. I’m running out of months in my current Erin Condren planner, which I love, but I want to try something new. I ordered the weekly planner instead of the daily because I typically don’t use all of the space a daily planner has. I choose the gold pineapple design but there were two others to choose from.  They were sold out on Emily’s sight so I googled her planner and found that they are also sold on a website called…I think I could get myself into trouble here because they’ve got a lot of random things that I could convince myself that I need.  You should definitely check it out and thank me later!img_8409

2. Beautiful Fall Weather

We’ve had an amazing week of fabulous weather here in Minnesota! The kids have enjoyed a lot of outdoor play after school and I’m all too happy for them to get their energy out OUTDOORS!

Parker had some buddies over after school on Friday and let me tell you, I was totally outnumbered! Ha!

3. Tieks

Jared and I are headed to Chicago this weekend for a little getaway and I packed one of my favorite pairs of shoes. Have you ever tried Tieks?! They’re a ballet flat but not JUST any ballet flat…they are the most comfortable pair of flats you will EVER wear. They come in a zillion different patters and colors too. I was gifted my first pair by one of my best friends who, lucky for me, also has amazing style! I have the ballet slipper pink ones and I’ve found them to be super versatile. I think next on my wish list would be a pair of black ones.

4. Field Trips

A couple of weeks ago I went on a field trip with Laney’s school to the Zoo. I love joining the kids on field trips and spending time with them at school. Although, I will say let’s give a shoutout to the teachers again (#stilldontknowhowtheydoit)…those kids were everywhere at the zoo! Laney didn’t want her pic taken so I don’t have many!

That’s a wrap for Favorites this Friday, thanks for visiting!

Camryn’s 1st Birthday Celebration!

We can’t believe our sweet baby girl is already 1! We had such a wonderful time celebrating her birthday with friends and family a couple of weeks ago.  Camryn’s party was a pink and gold “little pumpkin” theme. I found her invites on Etsy, they turned out so cute!  I usually find the kid’s invites on Etsy, have the PDF file sent to me and then print them at a local printer. So easy!““img_8520””

I had so much fun coming up with décor for the party!  Here are some of the things I made on my own, the rest of the decorations I picked up from Hobby Lobby, Target or ordered online from Amazon.

“1” Candle. I picked up a regular “1” candle, dipped it in Elmer’s glue and then sprinkled it with gold glitter. For a person that’s not crafty AT ALL, I thought it turned out pretty good!

“O N E” High Chair Banner. To make the banner I drew a pumpkin freehand and used it to make a stencil for the rest of the banner. I used heavyweight pink cardstock from Hobby Lobby. For the letters I used a stencil and cut the letters out on gold glitter cardstock, also from Hobby Lobby. I strung the pumpkins together with gold ribbon. I also ended up making a Happy 1st Birthday banner with the same pumpkin stencil.

For the “memory lane” board I found gold glitter clothespins at Hobby Lobby and hung 1 picture for each of the 12 months from it. I cut out mini pumpkins and wrote the corresponding month on the pumpkin with a gold pen.

Even though what I did was pretty minimal, I was super proud of putting my crafting skills to the test for one last 1st Birthday!

““img_8521””My super awesome sister was in charge of taking pictures at the party because I had my hands full, so I have her to thank for the rest of the pictures from the party!

Here’s my little pumpkin on her birthday!  I found her onesie, tutu and headband on Etsy at Fly Away Jo.

We kept the menu for her party really simple, as there were more than 40 friends and family there and I knew I’d be busy!  One of the items on the menu were my Grandma’s delicious Ham and Cheese Sliders. These are seriously sooooo good!

Camryn 1st Birthday
Grandma Sherry dishin’ up sliders!

Grandma’s Sliders

1 pkgs Hawiian Rolls (1 dozen)

1 lbs deli ham

1 tsp onion powder

 1 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard

1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp. poppy seeds

1/2 cup butter

12 slices swiss cheese

Directions: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice tops from the bottom of rolls and place in the bottom of a baking pan.   Layer ham and cheese on each roll and replace the tops. Melt the butter and whisk in the remaining ingredients, make sure you mix well. Drizzle evenly over each roll, I use a basting brush with rubber bristles to spread evenly. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted. Let stand for 2 minutes and enjoy!

Camryn thoroughly enjoyed her cake! I figured the best time to get pictures of her stationary, she’s on the move these days, was when she was busy eating her cake!

That’s a wrap for our little loves birthday party! We were so thankful and felt so blessed to have so much of our family be able to celebrate with us.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my Friday Favorites!

Weekend Recap!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.  I’m super excited for this week because it’s going to be a short one. It’s MEA week here in Minnesota, which means the kids don’t have school on Thursday and Friday. We are going to take a little weekend getaway to Chicago and I’m beyond thrilled!

Here’s what we were up to this past weekend.

On Friday night, we went up to the high school for Youth Night. Youth Night is a pre-game event that the football association hosts for all of the younger players. It was a great time! There were games, bounce houses, food and lots of friends to run around and play with. Friday afternoon the weather was beautiful so we thought it would be a great event for the whole family to attend. It ended up being A LOT chillier and I didn’t get any pics!  #gottagetbetteraboutthat

Parker taking Camryn for her first spin in Laney’s Jeep before we headed off to the football game.

On Saturday morning we all watched Parker’s last flag football game. It’s been a fun season and Parker really enjoyed playing on The Silver Bulls team.  I tried to watch as much of the game as I could but Camryn didn’t make it too easy since she was crawling ALL over the place!

Delaney and Jared went to a Daddy/Daughter Dance on Saturday night and had such a great time. It’s really hard sometimes to carve out time to spend with each of the kids individually, this dance is really special to them both because it’s something just for the two of them!  My sweet little Laney Pie! Love them!

While they were dancing the night away I was off celebrating the birthday of one of my very best friends.  We’ve know each other for more than 20 years and have THE BEST TIME when we’re together. It’s just a small group of us that gets together for birthdays and we each have a birthday in a different quarter of the year so it’s nice to know that at least we’ll have birthday celebrations to get together every couple months. Life has a way of getting in the way of getting together too often.  We didn’t take any pics of ourselves, darnit, but all I can say is that the Karaoke machine did make it’s way up from my friend’s basement and we had a grand time dancing and “rapping” (I use that term very loosely) to Bone Thugs and Snoop Dog!  Too! Much! Fun!

#soorynotsorry #itwasworthit #titosmademedoitandnowimpayingforit

I spent the day Sunday recovering from Saturday night’s shenanigans, oops!, and getting ready for this week! Monday, I’m comin’ for ya!!

P.S. I did manage to pull off an awesome dinner on Sunday night, I made Taco Stuffed Sweet Potatoes and they were delish!img_8452

Have a great week and thank you so much for stopping by!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was filled with a lot of fun and a little work.

On Friday night, we had plans to attend our Community Association’s Oktoberfest but it was rainy and the event was moved indoors so we weren’t sure how much the kids would enjoy it. We gave them the option to meet up with friends at Big Thrill Factory or have a family night and go to Pinz (a bowling alley/arcade), they chose  family night. I love how much our kids enjoy spending time together as a family!

So off to Pinz we went! This was Laney’s first time, so she had the bumpers up and this gator thing ( looks like a slide for your bowling ball) to help her out a bit. Looking at the score at the end you’d see I probably needed bumpers too! Ha!

Laney’s pouting that she’s not doing too well, I joked that she was still doing better than me! I was definitely NOT on my A game!  Parker was so sweet and encouraging to her the whole time:)

After bowling we let the kids play a few arcade games and then headed home. I worked on Saturday so Jared manned the fort at home.

I was looking around for Jared and here’s where I found him…of course he’s playing games too!

Grammy took Parker to see the Abominables at the Children’s Theatre while I was at work. It’s a children’s musical about hockey and Parker loved it! Wish I could have been there!

On Sunday morning, it was time to divide and conquer. The girls and I headed to church while the boys went to Parker’s hockey practice. Afterwards, Laney, Camryn and I did some shopping at Home Goods. I need to find some decor to finish off the mudroom project.img_8333Aren’t my helpers cute!;)

Here’s where we’re at with the coat hanger project that started it all!

Getting closer!!

While the girls were shopping, the boys were at church since they missed the earlier service. We all met back up at church later in the afternoon for their 50th Birthday Jubilee! The kids had so much fun! Among other things, there were bounce houses, a cake walk, face paint and even a fire truck. Somewhere along the way Laney lost her shoes. #whyaminotsurprised

That’s a wrap for our weekend recap!

Have a great week everyone!

Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday Saturday everyone! I’m a day late to the party and I’m bringing my Friday Favorites on Saturday!  Today, I’m linking up with Erika at A Little Bit of Everything,  Momfessionals and The Grace and Love Blog for their weekly Friday Favorites!

It’s been a dreary, rainy fall day here in Minnesota. I’m really hoping the weather clears up because we have a busy weekend ahead! Without further ado…here are some of my favorites!

1.”You are Special Today” Red Plate

We’ve made it a tradition in our family that on someone’s “special” day they get to eat off the red plate for the day. Birthdays, first day of school, school program, a dance recital or an important sports game are all days that we celebrate as “special” days. The plate comes with a black marker, which we use to write the date and occasion on which the plate was used. The kids love it! This week, Camryn ate off the red plate for the first time to celebrate her birthday!

We had waffle ice cream cones for her birthday breakfast, the kids loved them!:) #thankyoupinterest #imnothatcreative

2. Spiced Pumpkin Yankee Candle

I love to burn candles in the fall and winter that remind me of the season. Right now I’m burning the  Spiced Pumpkin scent, do you have a favorite fall scented candle that you’re burning? Around Christmastime I bring out the Red Apple Wreath candle, yumm!  I have been considering making the switch to essential oils for quite some time and may look into that too around Christmas!img_8319

3.   Nail Polish

I would take a picture of this polish on my toes but I don’t want to scare you away. So, you’ll have to settle for a pic of me holding it:)  I love this color for fall, so pretty! It’s called Bahama Mama by Essie.  I don’t typically paint my fingernails because I don’t have enough time to go get them done and I’m never sitting around long enough at home to paint them and let them dry!  #improbablynottheonlyonewiththisproblemimg_8318

4. “Grace, Not Perfection” by Emily Ley

I’m not sure how or why, maybe it was divine intervention, but a few weeks ago Emily Ley’s business page started showing up in my Facebook news feed. Emily apparently designs daily/weekly planners. I was intrigued by the super cute style of the planner and had also noticed that a few of my friends had “Liked” her page. Then, I came across a book at Target last week, “Grace, Not Perfect” and realized the author is, yes you guessed it….Emily Ley. So I had to check it out! I’m enjoying it so far and I’m about 1/4 of the way through, gonna try to make this my first book read of the month. If I get through an entire book in the first week of the month, it’s going to be a miracle!!  Has anyone else read this book or purchased her planners before?!  She has a blog too, which I’m going to check out! Thank you for visiting Finding My Mojo today! Have a lovely weekend with your family and friends!

Camryn’s First Birthday!

Elyse Rethlake Photography

One year ago today, we headed off to the hospital knowing we were finally going to meet our baby girl. What we didn’t know was how absolutely perfect she would fit into our family, like a missing puzzle piece she fit right in. We didn’t know the love her siblings would have for her from the very start. We didn’t know how easy her smile would be and the way she would light up a room. We didn’t know how at the age of one she would already love to play games, like peek-a-boo and keep-away (wonder where she learned that). We didn’t know that although we’d be teaching her many things, she’d be teaching us things like how to sweat the small stuff less and to laugh at how crazy life can be sometimes. We knew on that very first day and every day since then that this girl is perfection and we absolutely adore her. We cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for us. Camryn Shae, please have a conversation with time and tell it to slow down!

Today, one of my favorite bloggers over at A Little Bit of Everthing wrote about the names of the people in her family and how their names came to be.  After reading, I thought I’d share here how our sweet Camryn Shae’s name came about. Now….you can only read further if you promise not to think I’m crazy!

So several years ago, one of my best friends and I started following a couple of bloggers, Mix and Match Mama and Sheaffer Told Me To (Formerly known as Pinterest Told Me To). We’d been reading their blogs for forever and one day I was talking about how I really liked the name Sheaffer. We joked that the only way I was ever going to be able to have a child with that name is if we had another girl and I could then name her Sheaffer. This is when we only had two children, Parker and Delaney. A couple of years went by and occasionally we would make reference to the name Sheaffer and how if I had another girl…that’s what her name would be! Well, as fate would have it, we did get pregnant for a 3rd time! Nearly the entire pregnancy, we were positive our baby girl’s name was going to be Sheaffer…but there was something keeping me from saying I was 100% certain. The name Camryn wasn’t even on the list but Camille and Chloe were!  Baby girl was born in the morning on October 5 and she did not have a name until October 6, I was so exhausted after having her I couldn’t even begin to think about her name. Is that bad?!  At some point during the night, I woke up to feed her and the name came to me. Jared woke in the morning and I said to Jared,, “I think her name is Camryn Shae”.  He agreed that her name was perfection. So there it is, a beautiful name inspired by two of my favorite bloggers (Sheaffer and Shay)! Ha!img_3766This picture was taken just before I had Camryn!

Welcome to the world Camryn Shae! Born October 5, 2016 @ 11:04am- 8lbs9ozimg_4201

My whole world (almost, hubby not pictured), all wrapped up in these 3 beautiful faces!

There aren’t enough photos in the world to capture all of the memories made this last year but here are just a few!

This past weekend we celebrated our baby girl turning 1 with family and friends and I promised party pics but I’m still working on the photos…so you’ll have to wait in suspense for next week;)

Thank you so very much for stopping by at Finding My Mojo and reading a little bit about one of my greatest blessings.
